The Vagus Nerve – a major nerve of the parasympathetic nervous system, which runs through the central channel – innervates in the womb and cervix.
Known as the ‘rest and digest’ system, the parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for down-regulation ie coming into a restorative state.
It plays a vital role in sexual function, birthing, pain relief pleasure & orgasm. And it supports our hormonal balance, stress regulation & emotional states.
The Vagus nerve’s cervical and uterine innervation means that we can support down-regulation through sacred sexuality practices and womb somatics.
Learning practices which activate the parasympathetic nerve via cervical stimulation and womb awareness like Ceremonial Bodywork supports your nervous system in alignment with your female physiology.
Using oil and a gua sha tool (or a spoon) we stroke the face in a pattern which stimulates energy spots, sculpts and supports lymphatic drainage.
Applying oil to the breasts, we massage them in a sequence which moves stagnant energy and then invites in new energy.
We apply oil to the belly and move through a sequence of hands-on touch to support digestion, relieve stagnation and bring energy to the womb.
We warm up the yoni with gentle touch, apply oil and then move through a mapping sequence bringing touch to 12 spots of the pelvic diaphragm.

by tending to it with love.
ceremonial bodywork is a practice of devotion
If you’re a woman who’s been kissed by Venus (ie who loves beauty, natural fabrics, sacred oils and scents) you may have noticed that women’s beauty practices are often seen as vain or coming from a fear of ageing.
But many beauty rituals serve a deeper, richer purpose. They are often examples of Yin Cultivation – a Daoist concept, which refers to activities that enhance rest, relaxation, hydration and nourishment. Think of ancient beauty rituals like body and hair oiling – often practised in communal women-only spaces or by mothers to daughters: quiet, sacred spaces, aromatic oils, loving touch, slow and sensual energy.
The ancient idea of Yin Cultivation has a lot in common with the more modern idea of down-regulation in the female nervous system – something which relies on the love hormone Oxytocin.
Many of our most potent beauty rituals – from self-massage with oil, to facial Gua Sha – stimulate oxytocin production.
Oxytocin is how women activate the parasympathetic nervous system. It’s how we enact the hormonal cascade which initiates ovulation, which causes Progesterone-production. This is how Ceremonial Bodywork heals, nourishes and balances you.

Yes, this is a deep practice and some aftercare – or integration – is advisable. Take time to rest. Don't operate heavy machinery. Take a nap or go to sleep if practising in the evening and be sure to hydrate.
The internal parts of the practice aren't safe for women in active menstruation, under 6 weeks post-partum or after intimate surgeries and anyone currently pregnant. Though the first 3 aspects of the practice are safe to do.
A cosy, private space to lie down. Short nails for internal work. A Gua Sha tool or dessert spoon. Oil for face, breasts and belly. Plus oil which is safe for intravaginal work (castor or coconut oil).
You have access to the practice for 5 years. Plenty of time to revisit it as many times as you wish. Ideally practise it 1-2 times per month in its entirety. You can do the first 3 practices everyday.
I've been guiding women into deeper relationship with their female bodies and giving ceremonial bodywork treatments for more than a decade.
Of all the wonderful things I teach through Moon Body, there is nothing that brings women into profound relaxation quite like Ceremonial Bodywork.
We know as women that getting a massage is a beautiful act of self-care, but we often neglect the parts of our body considered sexual – our breasts and yonis.
Ceremonial Bodywork is an antidote to that. Through this practice you will meet the deepest parts of yourself, release stagnation and tension and bring hydration and nourishment to your most intimate place.
My prayer is that you deeply enjoy your practice! Let me know how you find it.
